A baby turtle is called a hatchling, while hatchling is most often used for a young bird, tadpoles, newts and new born baby turtles.A group of hatchlings are called a bale or flotilla.

The baby turtles stay in the nest for several days before making their way to the water. The sea turtle life cycle begins when a female lays its eggs on a nesting beach.
